2024 Arbor Day Honoree Sue Little listens as Nebraska City Tourism and Marketing Director Tammy Partsch reads from the press release announcing Little’s award during an April 26 afternoon reception at Arbor Lodge.

The Arbor Day Honoree and Tree Planter Awards ceremony had to be moved into Arbor Lodge mansion because of rainstorms and a tornado watch.

Sirens, in fact, went off in Nebraska City shortly after the awards ceremony concluded and guests took shelter in the basement bowling alley of the mansion until the storms passed.

Honored as the 2024 Tree Planters were Drs. Nathan and Ashley Mueller of Lincoln, who have donated more than 320 hours of time thus far to revitalizing, redesigning, and cataloging the 145 unique and rare lilac plants at Arbor Lodge.
